Dutch contemporary art in the Patrick Koster´s vision

The artist offers us a discourse from different aesthetic conceptions.

The network of social, psychological, creative, existential and somewhat conjuncture situations. The human being as argument and motive. The interweaving of various morphologies of the line and the mixture of chromatic tones in the same composition.

The selection of strongly chosen degrees from grammatical and morph-syntactic levels; are some of the issues present in the works of the Dutch artist Patrick Koster.

Made in recent times since the use of collage technique of adhesive film on polyester drawing mounted on a light box, the author of works such as: “The Massacre of the innocents” and “The complaints of an Icarus”; proposes pictorial creations with referential points to historical events, such as the Civil War in the United States; literary as “The Divine Comedy”; and social as the acts of violence that occurs in various North American cities.

In a century visually saturated by “new creative attempts and pseudo forms of realization”, Koster, how chronicler of his time tries to reflect the experiences of society, at times, determined from a symbology and a somewhat apocalyptic visual discourse in each of your proposals.

With a professional career supported by their studies in important academic institutions of his country such as the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Art and Painting Institute both in Amsterdam, Holland; their scenes show a creative progression and a style well defined by his creator.

The visual technique is the way of understanding between a creator, his work and the public.

The serigraphy “The people are me” (10 color print on open screen) of the well-known plastic artist, professor, curator, essayist and art critic Manuel López Oliva is one of the most interesting creative novelties in the contemporary Cuban visual scene in recent days.

Held at the “René Portocarrero” Screenprint Workshop in Havana, Cuba; the work executed on the gray tones and cuttlefish, reflects one of the “portraits – masks” of the Cuban creator. Symbolic and artistic constructions that the creator has as an identifying point of his professional career for years.

Through the use of interesting visual textures, somewhat enigmatic, with great semiotic value and a diaphanous look, the Cuban intellectual reflects in this work how superficial the popular concept can be that “behind a mask hides feelings and behaviors not totally socially accepted “, but can play a role, a specific role.

In a union from the codes of theatricality, the dramaturgy not only of the visual arts but combined as almost always with the universe of performing arts and the diversity of human behaviors, López Oliva is able to reflect the intricacies of a social daily life and intellectual from a pictorial – verbal interlocution understandable to all those who encounter his work.

His most recent creation is a more intimate approach between his artistic career and the different audiences that can appreciate it. A selection of their works can be found in his profile in the community of Artecru.

French art in the Caribbean insularity

With an artistic career developed in the circuits of European art especially in France and Italy, Sylvie Poinsot`s work of transcends geographical borders and reaches the Caribbean insularity.

The artist born in the so-called old continent has dabbled in various techniques from charcoal, pastel, acrylic to Indian ink, the latter as part of an investigation carried out by the creator in 2012.

Figuration through portrait painting has marked a large part of her work, conjugated at the same time by semi – figurative compositions. As part of a professional evolution in 2016, Poinsot decided to begin the steps in lyrical abstraction.

Her work can be defined as a neo-expressionist variant with influences from Emil Nolde and James Ensor with regard to portraiture.

The Italian art critic Paolo Levi catalogs it as: “a disturbing work, which is connected to the German expressionist painting of the twentieth century, revealing a poetic vein that is exalted in the strong contrasts of signs and colors”.

Sylvie Poinsot becomes the second French artist to be part of the creative community of Artecru where those interested can find a selection of her paintings.

Evolution from the everyday and the artistic

This new proposal is the result of constant improvement of its creator.

The philosophy, the spirituality, the science and the plastic arts. It is a transformation and artistic improvement between one product and another of the poetic numen that inspires this painter. This “Evolution” becomes in itself the title of the most recent series by Dominique Joyeux, renowned representative of French contemporary visuality.

On this occasion, the artist offers from a particular and somewhat exclusive point of view the interrelation and the coexistence in the same pictorial scene of elements that coincide and complement each other, with which she achieves an exquisite coherence in these pieces.

In these works the progression and the mutability, this last one not only from the genetics, occupy two of the central questions that motivate the creative act, those that together with the technique of oil on canvas, are the result of a guide of thought of her creator.

This series may be appreciated by users who visit Dominique’s profile in the artistic community of Artecru.
